Mixing/Blending

Steward Advanced Materials has various in-house mixing and blending capabilities. Our methods include vee blenders, ribbon mixers, plow mixers, high-intensity mixers, and high-speed shear mixers.
- Vee blenders operate efficiently with loads between 40% and 100% of the working capacity, without incurring significant increases in blending times. The broad operating capacity allows our Vee blenders to be very versatile when batch sizes vary
- Ribbon mixers are designed for fast and thorough blending. In addition to the mixing action, the shearing action in the interface between the opposing pitched ribbons provide a mild kneading
- Plow Mixers create a mechanical, fluidized bed mixing action. The mixing tools are engineered to move material away from the wall into free space in a crisscross direction, and inversely back again
- High-intensity mixers typically have a rotating mixing path that delivers the mixture into an area with a mixing tool. They have the ability to take a small amount of material and water (or other liquid) and disperse it within a large amount of material. These units produce a very homogeneous mix and can blend, disperse, pelletize, dissolve, and react, all in one machine
High-speed shear mixers are used for solid/liquid mixing. They rapidly break apart lumps of powdery material, uniformly distributing and wetting them in a liquid. They are also used to dissolve soluble solids in a liquid. They typically have a saw tooth blade and operate at high RPMs. They are also known as “dispersers.”
